Wow, I feel as though we just said hello to summer and now it’s already time to wave goodbye. But, I am embracing fall with open arms this year. It’s been so hot and humid here in Virginia, and I’ve secretly been longing for cooler weather. Not to say that autumn automatically means a significant temperature drop, but I can dream, right?!
If you’re like me, you may have waited until the last minute to start thinking about fall decor ideas. But that is ok haha! There’s still a few days before the official start of the new season and I’ve got you covered with ideas that will instantly get your house fall ready.
Let’s start with your home’s entrance
Nothing says fall more than a simple, yet classic fall-themed wreath. Adding a wreath that is bright and warm with orange, red, and brown colored leaves to your front door is the perfect way to shift gears.

But why stop there? Let’s spice it up by adding a fall-themed door mat. This will not only make your entrance more lively, but it will create a homey feeling for you and your guests.

Add a few fall themed mugs to your collection
I don’t know about you, but I love reading a good book while drinking a nice, hot cup of tea. Why not do it with a cute pumpkin shaped mug?

Or snuggle up with a pumpkin spice brew in a mug that makes you feel at home!

Bring out those throw blankets
As the temperatures start to fall, you may not want to make huge adjustments to your home’s thermostat. It’s much easier to just reach over, grab a blanket and wrap up. Or neatly fold and hang it over the arm of the chair

Change up your dining room place settings
This is the perfect time to conduct a refresh of your dining room decor. Aim for neutral, yet earth-tone colors (blue, gray, tan, brown, yellow).

You may also want to add subtle hints of Thanksgiving themed decor, such as a cute placemat.

Lastly add a few fall candles around the house
In my personal opinion, one can never have enough candles in their home. They smell great and add special touches to the various rooms in your home.

The aroma of cinnamon and pumpkin is a sure way to help you feel calm and at peace!

And remember you don’t have to over do it with any of these tips. A few touches here and there will help you easily transition to a fall ready home. Now, let’s get to work. Happy decorating!
