My baby is a storybook character….Sir Greyson John!! 👑

Yesterday I took my 2 year old son to see @disneylittlemermaid and HE LOVED IT! He enjoyed the music so much, during the credits he made drumsticks out of two straws to tap on my purse lol. @lin_manuel

As for this mama, I adored this live-action take on The Little Mermaid! It told the story beautifully and brought back so many memories!! I highly recommend the movie and look forward to seeing it again.

SN: When looking at the box-office picture my son said "Mommy she's so pretty", hence the big smile @hallebailey

More and more my son has been asking to be held or to sit in my lap...and I am loving it 🤎

But I can’t say it was always like this. As a work from home IT Project manger and business owner, I found myself “not having the time”. There was always a meeting or deadline that had me saying “Not right now baby” or “I’ll pick you up later”. It’s like I literally had no time at all of my child until after 5 PM, and even then there seemed to always be a Zoom that I needed to join.

But in recent months, I’ve had to really evaluate my life, my goals and figure out the things I can cut out. And also, learn to say NO to a lot of extracurricular activities. Nothing is more important than being present with my child and enjoying him grow up. These are moments that I literally will never get back, and I’ve decided I’m not missing any more of them. 🥰

I’ll never forget the first time I left the pediatrician’s office in tears...

As the doctor was doing her evaluation, she began to ask different questions like how many words Greyson knew, whether or not I had given him peanut butter yet, etc. At that time, he wasn’t really saying any real words and because he used to gag his food a lot, I was slow to introduce peanut butter.

When I gave her my answers, she just stared at me in a belittling way. Then she proceeded to tell me that I was extremely behind the ball with some of his milestones and that I should’ve introduced peanut butter along time ago. I felt so defeated. Like I already felt unprepared because I’m a new mom and I had a baby when the world was pretty much such down. In my mind I’m thinking, “Can you please just show me a little grace”?

Long story short, that was our last visit with her. Mamas listen to your instincts. If you don’t feel comfortable about your experience, go elsewhere.

Today was an absolute dream! ❤️

About a month ago, I decided that I wanted to host my family for Memorial Day. The problem was that I wanted to host on my deck…..which was not in the best condition at all (warped boards, weathered paint, etc.)

Long story short, my parents made it happen! I gave them my vision and they literally brought my deck back to life. From replacing the deck boards, helping my choose paint colors, picking out the decor….they were absolute rockstars!! We were also blessed to have my father-in-law paint the entire deck.

Because of their labor of love, I was able to do what my heart desired! I’m so grateful 🥹

My toddler’s first international trip is coming up and I’m so grateful to be able to create new memories with him!

And contrary to popular belief, the passport process was pretty smooth. But here are some things you need to know:

1. Both parents or legal guardians must be present with the child when applying for the passport. If one parent is unable to attend you must have that parent fill out form DS 3053 (STATEMENT OF CONSENT) and have it notarized.

2. You will need to provide proof of the child’s U.S. citizenship, such as a birth certificate or certificate of naturalization

3. You will also need to provide proof of your relationship to the child, such as a birth certificate or court order

4. A passport photo of the child will be required, which can be taken at many post offices or photography studios

5. The application fee for a child’s passport is less than that of an adult’s passport. Check the current fees on the State Department’s website.

6. Allow plenty of time for processing, as it can take several weeks to receive the passport.

Is your toddler a picky eater? SAVE + SHARE this post! 📌

Ok I’ve been guilty of trying to make my toddler eat what I give them, and just expecting him to cooperate. I’m here to tell you that it absolutely does not work that way.

If you’ve been struggling to get your picky toddler to eat their meals, try these tips out:

1. Avoid pressuring or forcing your toddler to eat. I can tell you that this is the quickest way to frustrate them into not wanting to eat anything at all. Also, it can make them start to resent meal times.

2. Be patient and consistent in offering new foods. While a certain food may not be a hit the first time, give it another try and another try. Eventually, your toddler will reveal whether or not they truly do not like the meal or were just apprehensive about trying something different.

3. Offer smaller portions and let them decide how much to eat. This has been a game changer for me. I used to waste so much food, giving him portions that I thought were appropriate. But since incorporating the smaller portions method, we waste a lot less food and he’s able to let me know if he’d like more next time.

I kicked off the start of my MOMcation at the @bestwestern Plus Mount Vernon/Fort Belvoir! # AD

When the silk press is giving EVERYTHING it’s supposed to give! 💁🏾‍♀️

For Mother’s Day, I decided to get my first silk press since doing a big chop in September 2021. My girl @hairbyomega OVERSTOOD the assignment and brought hydration and life back into my hair.

Now in true Virginia fashion, the weather didn’t play fair and a rain storm washed my curls away the next morning lol. BUT, it was soooo cute while it lasted. 🥰

This mom has UNAPOLOGETICALLY chosen herself 🤎🥰

Today, I will begin the first part of my much needed MOMcation. A chance for me to spend uninterrupted time with myself to be renewed, rejuvenated and refreshed. Ultimately, to take part in some REVOLUTIONARY REST!

When I first decided to do this, I was scared. Scared that I am somehow just abandoning my responsibilities. But I had to check that mindset. This isn't about abandonment, it's about refilling my cup. Before I was a mom or a wife, I was an individual. An individual who did not have to give daily pieces of herself to others, so it was easier to reset. Now, in this chapter of my life, I have to be more intentional.

So to the mama who's struggling with the idea of taking a break, I see you....I am you. Don't let fear or mom-guilt hold you back from your much needed refilling and refueling. You owe it to yourself and to your family to be the best version of YOU.

Dealing with indecisive toddlers can be challenging. Here are a few tips that may help:

1. Offer limited choices to avoid overwhelming them.

2. Give them time to make a decision, but set a time limit.

3. Use positive reinforcement to encourage decision-making.

4. Be patient and understanding, and avoid getting frustrated or angry.

5. Model decision-making by making choices in front of them.

Mother's Day was absolutely perfect! I was able to send it with my entire family, which doesn't get much better than that. 🥹❤️💐

I'm grateful that God has allowed me to be the mother of such a beautiful, intelligent, loving and caring young man. Greyson is truly one of the best things to ever happen to me. Blessed is an understatement for how I'm feeling. ❤️

Today was AMAZING! I kicked off Mother’s Day weekend with a graduation…..my graduation 😃🎓💐

Thank you so much to @bishophez and the @hezwalkeratvuu for the opportunity to participate in today’s commencement exercises! I completed the inaugural Praise & Worship 101 certificate program, taught by the “Prince of Praise” @byroncage. It’ll be the first of many more for me.

As I enter my 3rd Mother's Day weekend, I can't help but reflect on my 1st. Which also happens to be the one where Greyson blew out his diaper at dinner #IYKYK lol 😂

Having, at that time, been a mom for about 11 months it was amazing how much I had grown. It's like you're pregnant and know very little and then you have the baby and your mother's intuition IMMEDIATELY kicks in. And now you can discern the baby's needs based on their cry. Like what??? 🤯

I say all this to say Mama give yourself GRACE. It may feel like you're unprepared or that you're not equipped to walk this new journey. Please know that you will be/are the perfect mom for you child. Don't feel the pressure to be like mom A or mom B. Trust me, we're all out here trying to figure it out. But your intuition will come and it will not lead you astray. ❤️

Ok mamas, I need you to SAVE & SHARE these "6 Tips to Help Your Toddler Cooperate in Photos" with another mama. 🧡

Mother's Day is coming up and I KNOW yall are gonna want cute photos with your babies. But somebody look at your neighbor and say "NEIGHBOR! Just because I want it, doesn't mean they'll cooperate" lol.

Seriously though, that last frame is from a recent photoshoot that Greyson was completely over BECAUSE I didn't follow the tips I'm sharing with you today.

I literally tried to convince MY TODDLER to take photos without a nap, no snacks, nothing to play with it. It was hot mess lol. BUT, had I followed the tips in the slides above it would gone much smoother.
